Turn It Off

Sometimes I wish I could turn it off. I know what I know, unsee what I see. It would be simpler to be unaware. Less complicated.

With knowledge and awareness comes responsibility.

Maya Angelou famously said, “When you know better, you can do better.” I note that she conspicuously left out any mention of it becoming easier.

But what would it mean to not know? It would be to turn the light off.

How much dimmer, duller, and less beautiful would the world be if I did that?
